Description

The Bison is based on a carving made from reindeer antler roughly 14,000 years ago and discovered in 1863 in the Dordogne region of France. The carving was once known as The Wounded Bison, but archaeologists now believe the animal depicted is more likely to be grooming than injured.

In the first quarter of 2013 the British Museum had an exhibition called Ice Age Art, the arrival of the Modern Mind. This statuette was supplied to the British Museum for their shop as a specialist item for duration of this exhibition.

The Bison is approximately 6½ inches (16cm) tall and weighs approximately 400g.

Your Bison is one of 365 and comes with it's own certificate of authenticity.

Venus sculpture

The Venus of Willendorf was unearthed in Austria in 1908. She was carved by an unknown artist some time between 24,000 and 22,000 years ago. Her original purpose and meaning may never be known, but millennia later her power to move us has not diminished. This is my tribute to what remains one of the greatest works of art of all time.Venus is approximately 9 inches (23cm) tall and weighs approximately 500g.Your Venus is one of 345 and comes with it's own certificate of authenticity.

The Twins sculpture

The inspiration for The Twins began with a tiny marble statue, dating from 5,800 BC. It shows two figures who share a single lower body and was discovered at Catal Huyuk in Anatolia. It’s one of several two-headed or double bodied sculptures from the same part of the world. There appearance as part bird and part human is based on images of Vulture-Priests also discovered at Catal Huyuk. The Twins are approximately 5 inches (12½cm) tall and weigh approximately 500g.Your Twins is one of 280 and ...

The White Lady sculpture

The thicket had grown up about it and concealed it, and in the Middle Ages the followers of a very old tradition had known how to use it for their own purposes. In fact it had been incorporated into the monstrous mythology of the Sabbath. You will have noted that those to whom a sight of that shining whiteness had been vouchsafed by chance, or rather, perhaps, by apparent chance, were required to blindfold themselves on their second approach. That is very significant.Arthur Machen - The White Pe...
